A same-sex union is not a marriage

Let me state clearly that everyone has the right to get married. Everyone. But let me also be just as clear in stating that marriage is the union of a man and a woman. That’s right – it is the practice of individuals of opposite sex joining in a recognised civil or religious bond. That is the definition of marriage. Anything else is not marriage. In Australia, marriage is the union of two people, and in Islamic nations it can be the union of a man and one or more women, but it does not involve people of the same sex.
